PlaySafe is an educational and marketing initiative of viaSport British Columbia, and as such, adheres to viaSport’s Governance and Operational Policies, including around Privacy. viaSport is a non-profit registered society and must align with the overarching priorities of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport and the BC government to develop and implement strategies and supporting policies that steward the development, promotion, and growth of amateur sport in British Columbia, in its widest sense. INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the viaSport British Columbia Society (“viaSport”, “we” or “us”) website (“Website”). The purpose of viaSport is to increase awareness, opportunity and participation in sport across the province at every stage of life and in every community (“Purpose”). We are governed by and comply with the Personal Information Protection Act (BC). We take privacy and data protection seriously, and are committed to ensuring the proper use, protection and security of personal information in our custody or control. This Privacy Notice and Terms of Use (this “Notice”) describes what personal information we collect, how we may use and disclose it, and the steps we take to keep it secure.
By using this Website, or otherwise providing your personal information to us, you agree to the processing of your personal information as set out in this Notice. If you don’t agree, please do not use this Website. Further notices may be provided to you from time to time if we collect personal information directly from you.
Please note that our Website contains many links to third parties who partner with us or who provide resources or information about their sport organization or the sport sector. PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT, USE AND DISCLOSE
viaSport collects, uses and discloses the following personal information:
- Basic personal details such as your name and contact information if necessary for a purpose described in this Notice;
- Financial data such as payment related information as necessary to process payments for services requested by you;
- Demographic data such as your newsletter preferences or interests;

viaSport collects, uses and discloses personal information as necessary to fulfill the following purposes:
- for the purpose of processing and administering a funding application by an individual or an organization;
- to process applications from coaches when signing up for courses and provide support and services associated with courses and training, as requested;
- to send updates and newsletters to individuals in accordance with their preferences;
to respond to requests for services and to improve our services; - to respond to inquiries, concerns and comments received through our Contact Us page;
to contact and correspond with you and process your instructions; - to process payments;
- to maintain contact information for stakeholders and partners;
- to de-identify the information for statistical analysis and research purposes to enable us and our funders to better understand our own operations and important issues in the sporting sector in British Columbia and Canada;
- to understand how our Website is used and to improve our Website;
- to comply with our contractual obligations or enforce our legal rights;
- for legal and business purposes such as for administrative, operational, tax, recruitment, and risk management purposes, or other legal compliance purposes; and
- as otherwise permitted or required by law.

Personal information is normally collected directly from you, but may also be received from a third party, such as a credit card service provider if the information is for the purpose of making an online payment for courses.

YOUR INFORMATION RIGHTS

If you seek records containing your personal information in electronic form, we will provide copies of the records in that form with our response, where it is reasonable to do so.
Consent and Withdrawal: Where your consent is required in order for us to collect, use or disclose your personal information you may at any time contact us to withdraw your consent on a go-forward basis, unless your consent was given as part of a contractual agreement. If you choose to withdraw your consent, you understand you may not be able access certain services provided by viaSport that relate to that consent. Please note that if you withdraw consent viaSport may still collect, use, store, and disclose your personal information where required or permitted by law.
Accuracy: You can help viaSport maintain the accuracy of your information by notifying us of any changes to your personal information. When you contact us to request a change, we may ask for further details to confirm your identity or the request.
INFORMATION FOR ALL WEBSITE USERS
