PlaySafe workshops and online training courses are designed to help you understand safe participation and what actions you can take to foster safety. 

Workshops

We know the value of having someone come to your team and present information face-to-face. If you’d like to host an educational workshop, we can come to you in most parts of British Columbia, either in person or virtually, for a live workshop.

We will tailor the content to any group, including athletes, parents and guardians, coaches, officials, staff, and board members.

Cost

Our one-hour workshops are offered at a cost-recovery rate to enable sustainability and continuous improvement.

  • Small group (30 people or less): $490 + tax
  • Large group (more than 30 people): $790 + tax
  • Travel expenses for in-person workshops ($0.72 per kilometer)

Understanding Safe Participation

Creating safe and positive environments in sport is essential for both performance and enjoyment. This workshop explores what safe participation means and why it is a necessary foundation for well-being.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand what safe participation means and how to foster it
  • Learn about the impact of physical, emotional, psychological, and cultural safety
  • Review common issues of maltreatment in sport
  • Recognize unsafe behaviour
  • Learn how to respond appropriately to unsafe behaviour
  • Connect safe participation to values-based sport to foster positive experiences

Strong teams don’t just perform well, they create environments where people feel safe to speak up, share ideas, and take risks together. This workshop explores the concept of psychological safety and why it is a cornerstone of both well-being and sustainable high performance.
